Advanced Medical Imaging is expanding its Port Orchard facility. The centerpiece of the expansion is a state-of-the-art High Field Open MRI. Patients are now being scheduled for this piece of equipment located at the South Kitsap Medical Center campus, 450 South Kitsap Boulevard, Suite 110.
According to Dr. Michael Cook, medical director for AMI, “Our new High Field Open MRI is the best of both worlds — offering an open environment for patient comfort along with outstanding image quality preferred by physicians. It is equal to or better than High Field, closed bore or tunnel MRI, yet this design is very patient-friendly.”
This high field open MRI is a breakthrough in advanced technology. It provides high quality diagnostic images for every region of the body. It has a flexible, wide table design that lowers to 20 inches, making it easier for patients. It can handle up to 500 pounds and has a 270 degree truly open, unobstructed view making the patient experience comfortable. It offers fast scan times and motion-compensation technology for superb imaging. There are a variety of specialized coils used for advanced detailed studies of the brain, spine, shoulders, legs, breast, cardiac, neurovascular and abdomen. It is a preferred choice for patients who are claustrophobic, obese, elderly, anxious or young.” This 1.2T MRI is the only High Field Open MRI available on the peninsula.
The new MRI is just one of several advanced imaging technologies provided at the new Port Orchard office. Additional medical imaging includes 16-slice Computed Tomography , Digital Ultrasound and Digital DR X-ray. The Women’s Diagnostic Center of South Kitsap will offer Digital Mammography, DEXA Bone Scans and Breast MRI, with biopsy capability. The center is in a private women’s setting with all female technical staff.
All technologists are nationally certified and our medical images are read by one of our eight board certified radiologists. Three additional locations in Bremerton and Silverdale offer a full spectrum of medical imaging. All imaging is now completely digital, and are available through a secure web portal for your physicians review in his/her office.
An open house is scheduled for Jan. 13 where the public will be invited. Tours of the facility will be offered during the day from noon to 5 pm.
