Bushnell Homes keeps construction in the family

Tracy Bushnell Bushnell Homes is definitely a family affair.

“The Bushnell family has been building houses in Kitsap for over 20 years,” said Tracy Bushnell, president of the firm. “The company was originally founded by my brother Stan, who passed away of pancreatic cancer in 2000. Since then the company has gone through many changes and is growing rapidly.”

Originally founded as Bushnell Brothers, Inc., the company is currently doing business as Bushnell Homes, and is in the process of a restructure. Once complete, the restructured company will be permanently known as Bushnell Homes. The company is headquartered in a small office in Tracyton, but plans are in the works for a new corporate office in Silverdale.

Bushnell Homes currently has six employees, including a full-time project manager and superintendent, and is primarily a custom and spec building company, as well as offering custom concrete work, and building custom stair systems for other builders.

Its current spec projects include some large plat developments that Tracy Bushnell anticipates being ready for construction sometime in 2007. Other projects on the family business’ plate include five custom homes and five spec homes. The company relies on its long-standing reputation as a quality home builder and offers an unconditional work guarantee.

“If our work is not to your satisfaction based upon the agreed-upon specifications,” said Bushnell on the company’s Web site, “we will fix it.”

The company’s quality of work was recognized in 2004 when Bushnell Homes received the Best Custom Home award in that year’s Kitsap Homebuilders Association’s Parade of Homes.

For Bushnell, it’s the company’s personal touch that sets it apart from other builders in the area.

“We do a great design build process and will walk custom customers completely through the process,” he said, “making the building process an enjoyable one.”

There have been a lot of hands that have helped build the business, and Bushnell is quick to acknowledge them.

“We have many friends and family who have supported our efforts and many business partners who have gotten us to where we are today,” he said. “We would like to thank all those that have made Bushnell Homes what it is today.
