| The MultiCare Gig Harbor Medical Park has only been open for about three months, but the services are already in high demand. Administrator Mary Grubbs said the new services offered at the center are doing as well or better than expected.
“Things have been positive and the community has received (the center) well. It exceeded our expectations,” she said.
Among the new services MultiCare brought to Gig Harbor at its new location is a medical spa, which has been very popular. “It’s a new direction — taking a wellness and relaxation (approach) and coupling it with the medical aspects,” Grubbs said. The spa’s offerings are a combination of aesthetical services offered at regular day spas, as well as more specialized treatments that require medical training.
The medical center’s focus is on primary care, with a special emphasis on women’s health. The Healthy Reflections Medical and Day Spa is part of a Women’s Health and Wellness Center, which also includes a women’s boutique, diagnostic services, and an YMCA fitness center complete with classes and cardio and strength equipment.
All the primary and specialized care physicians are MultiCare providers; the specialties range from dermatology and neurology to children’s cardiology. The medical park is also home to a Mary Bridge Child Express urgent care clinic, a sleep disorders clinic and medical imaging. A retail pharmacy was slated to open shortly.
One of the physicians who joined the clinic recently is Gregory Popich, who specializes in orthopedic and sports medicine. Popich was the team doctor for Gig Harbor High School for many years, and had a satellite office in Gig Harbor two decades ago — the only orthopedic surgeon in Gig Harbor at the time.
MultiCare has 170 employees at the medical park including physicians, with patients coming not only from the Gig Harbor area but also from Tacoma and South Kitsap.
