Employee referrals provide
more candidates for jobs
Large companies are beginning to rely more and more on employee referrals to pluck the candidates they will interview from the tsunami of applicants that buries them for every job they post, thanks to the large on-line posting services.

This is from a recent study of recruitment practices in large firms conducted by CareerXroads, a recruitment consulting firm.

Hiring via current employee referral is on the upswing according to the CareerXroads study, which says that in 2004, 32 percent of hires in the companies surveyed came to them that way, up from 23 percent in 2001.

After employee referrals, the Internet — when applicants long onto the company's website to apply — is the next most utilized source at 30 percent.
Monster.com and Career Builder are next at about 8 percent each, and their slices of the hiring pie appears to be getting smaller.
