Heart surgeon to speak at
heart and diabetes fair

The link between diabetes and heart disease is real and significant, and cardiac surgeon Chris King, MD, wants to spread the word. Harrison's medical director of cardiac surgery will speak on “Diabetes is another name for Heart Disease” at the hospital's Oct. 27 Heart and Diabetes Fair.

The free event will take place at the Kitsap Fairgrounds Pavilion from 1 to 5 p.m. on Oct. 27. Participants will have access to education and information about heart disease and diabetes, plus receive free blood glucose and blood pressure screenings. Also free is Harrison's new Heart Smart booklet, which features information on maintaining a healthy heart, along with heart-healthy recipes. Some 40 vendors will exhibit products and services.
