Revitalization of East Park
in Bremerton moving forward

The 47 acres of vacant land known as East Park is emerging as an example of the City of Bremerton’s efforts to expand its revitalization program to residential communities. The site is located just north of Manette, which was featured recently in the July issue of Seattle Magazine’s 2005 Best Neighborhoods. Manette was named as the ninth most popular neighborhood in Puget Sound.

The East Park site offers spectacular territorial and water views of the Washington Narrows and Olympic Mountains and includes the 15-acre, state owned, East Park Nature Area. It’s located near Harrison Hospital, retail areas and community recreational facilities including the Bremerton Ice Arena, Kitsap Family YMCA and the Glenn Jarstad Aquatic Center.

According to Mayor Cary Bozeman, East Park is an ideal location for an innovative housing and urban development project to attract professionals and young families to Bremerton.

The City’s Department of Community Development, headed by Director Chris Hugo, is working with new owners East Park LLC, Mithun Architects, Designers & Planners and local residents to redevelop the site as a pedestrian friendly, diverse urban environment with interconnected green spaces and a broad range of new housing types and pricing options.
