| A new survey finds that employees have become more positive about most aspects of their organizations and jobs, including the security of their positions.
The 2005 Whats Working Survey, conducted by Mercer Human Resources Consulting, measured the thinking of a representative sample of workers employed by more than 800 organizations across the United States.
Mercers 2005 research, conducted during the first quarter of this year, shows more signs of enhanced employee commitment and confidence more than in 2002:
- Nearly two-thirds of the workers surveyed (64%) feel a strong sense of commitment to their organization, up from 58% in 2002.
- More than seven in ten (73%) workers say they are confident their organization will be successful in the future, compared to 63% in 2002
- Some 65% (up from 59% in 2002) agree, The level of job security offered by my organization is as good as or better than the security offered by other organizations in our geographic area.
Although 49% of the workers believe their organization is well managed, that figure is significantly higher than the 40% reported in 2002.
Also an overwhelming majority (84%) are satisfied with the type of work they do, 69 percent are satisfied with their jobs, and 66 percent are satisfied with their organizations. |
