SPECIAL REPORT - HEALTHCARE QUARTERLY
Harrison now offering wireless

Harrison is the first hospital in the region to provide free wireless internet access for patients and their families and visitors. Those who wish to bring a PDA or laptop and surf the internet can do so at the Bremerton campus in a number of locations, including the main lobby waiting area, cafeteria, and the waiting areas of the ER, ICU, and oncology unit.

A few hospitals (Virginia Mason, Swedish) offer internet access from computers in their own libraries but no place for hooking up a personal computer. Harborview’s computers are available only for accessing healthcare sites. Tacoma General, St. Joe’s, and Jefferson General do not offer internet access for patients.
