The popular Cosmos Deli, now in its fifth year serving Port Orchard, announced plans for expanding their operations by the fall of this year. It was a long time in the making, says Shelly Lewis, co-owner of the business along with Christina Balazs. They have been working through rezoning and land use issues for over a year and a half now.
The BJC Group has been retained to do the design/build work for the new facility, which will be located at 1821 SE Lund Ave., across the street from Cosmos current location. Robert Baglio of BJC Group is the Project Manager. Kitsap Bank will fund the project.
In addition to more seating, which was one of the main drivers behind the expansion, there will be more space in the restaurant kitchen and a separate delicatessen so the pair can make all the great foods we have in our heads but havent had the space to create, says Balazs. Included in that category are many more desserts, hand-made pasta and sauces, and more frozen meals.
The 3,000 square foot facility will house a 50-seat restaurant, authentic delicatessen and market, a wine bar, and a patio for outside seating. Cosmos will employ approximately 20 people and will have dedicated parking for their customers. |
