Biodiesel is here

Kitsap’s first bodiesel company is Image Energy, located near the ferry terminal on Bainbridge Island. The company’s fuel is made from soy — a clean, renewable non-petroleum fuel that lowers air and water pollution and eliminates sulfur particulates (the main cause of acid rain).

According to owners Nick Rohrback and Morgan Roose, whose backgrounds are in biology, toxicology, hydrogeology and geology, biodiesel is used by the US Postal Service, National Parks, school districts, and is currently under testing with the Washington State Ferry system on the Vashon run. Visit the new business on Tues. & Thurs. from 3 to 7 p.m.
