Dr. Bea Dixon, Director of Specialized Community and Adult Services at Kitsap Mental Health Services was recognized by the Washington Chapter of the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill (NAMI) at its annual conference held recently in Bellevue. Dixon was one of only five individuals, and the only mental health professional, recognized this year by NAMI Washington for her extraordinary efforts on behalf of individuals and families affected by mental illness.
A native of Belgium, Dixon participated in the development of the new Kitsap Crisis Triage Service designed to ease overcrowding of emergency rooms by being the central evaluation center for people in crisis due to mental illness and/or substance abuse. |
