New Seattle Systems product helps back braces stretch and shrink with movement

Poulsbo’s Seattle Systems recently debuted a new product called Slide Sternal Extension. The device, designed to simplify the rehabilitation process for patients and their medical care providers, attaches to the front of a spinal brace to give the patient added spinal support without applying unwanted pressure against the patient’s chest, as is common with other braces.

Spring loaded, the Slide Sternal Extension adjusts automatically to a shorter level when the person sits and expands when the person stands, so no binding or unnecessary discomfort ensues.

“A distinct advantage of the Slide Sternal Extension is its to attach to most thoracic or body braces for the additional comfort and support that is necessary for most types of spinal injuries,” said Practitioner Kaia Halvorson, CPO. “The Slide Sternal Extension also fits the Seattle Systems’ brace, Johnson’s LSO/TLSO.”
Adjustable support is key for making the spinal brace functional to wear. By preventing excessive bending of the spine fractures, it helps to hold weak bones secure so the individual may remain active.
