Seattle Book Company revs-up RosettaMachine
An industry first — Create 7 eBook formats in under 15 minutes

E-books have to start somewhere after they’re written.

Seattle Book Company, an electronic publishing company using Web-based technologies, has released its Express ePublishing System powered by RosettaMachine, its automated file conversion technology.

By simply uploading a single text file to the ePublishEngine Web site (www.epublishengine.com) a publisher can convert the text-based book to seven different formats including PDF and HTML files.

“We’re excited that our ePublishEngine offers the solutions that our customers have been waiting for,” said Ted Treanor, President of Seattle Book Company. Treanor is the former director of the Electronic Commerce Resource Center in Bremerton.

“We have lowered costs and improved the time-to-market,” he says. “Seattle Book can deliver all popular eBook formats within minutes, rather than days, weeks, or even months. The publisher is in complete control of the files. We simply removed the technology hurdles inherent in electronic publishing.”

The services of Seattle Book’s ePublishEngine saves publishers considerable time by eliminating repetitive data entry steps in the life cycle of publishing, proofing, distributing, marketing, and selling electronic books.

“ePublishEngine also reduces publishers’ risks by keeping costs low. The investment needed to create eBooks using Seattle Book’s system is very low”, Treanor said. “A publishing company with normal channel and royalty costs using ePublishEngine conversion services, can typically earn back their entire investment by selling fewer than 100 copies.”

Martin Eberhard, one of the best-known leaders in ePublishing, is on the Advisory Board of Seattle Book Company. Eberhard is also the inventor of the revolutionary Rocket eBook reader device and co-founder and former CEO of NuvoMedia.

“I have been impressed for many years by Seattle Book Company’s commitment to supporting all popular eBook formats,” Eberhard said. “Their RosettaMachine makes it possible for publishers to produce quality eBooks in the formats that matter, easily and automatically.”.
