Jerry L. Moon, who has served as John L. Scott President and Owner J. Lennox Scotts right hand man for more than a decade, has been named as company president and chief operating officer. Moon was formerly the executive vice president.
Scott, will now operate as chairman and chief executive officer of the firm, which has 109 offices with over 2,800 sales associates in the states of Washington, Oregon and Idaho, and a marketing partnership in Maui, Hawaii.
Scott says the executive level changes are also designed to accommodate future expansion, while allowing John L. Scott to maintain a competitive value advantage.
As president, Moon will oversee the operations of John L. Scotts Washington and Oregon corporate offices, as well as the companys client transaction services, and the John L. Scott Network, the franchising division of the company.
As chairman and CEO, Scott will focus largely on business development of future opportunities for expanded services, while keeping current on industry conditions and changes. He will continue to play an integral role in strategic planning and operations, but Moon will lead these areas, overseeing their function and implementation.
Moon started his real estate career as a salesperson in 1968 in Dublin, California. He became a broker with Valley Realty in 1970. In 1972 he was appointed manager and then in 1978, Moon was appointed regional vice president of Valley Realty. When Coldwell Banker bought the company in 1980, he was promoted to senior vice president. Moon joined John L. Scott Real Estate as vice president of sales and marketing in 1990. In 1991 he was appointed executive vice president of the company.
Scott has been president of John L. Scott Real Estate since he took over the family business in 1980 at the age of twenty-seven. Scott is the third generation to run the family business, which was founded in 1931 by his grandfather, John L. Scott.
In 2000, Scott was recognized by Realtor® Magazine as one of the nations top 25 most influential people in real estate. He was also honored in 2001 as one of the top five most admired individuals in real estate in the nation, by REAL Trends. Both honors were attributed to Scotts forward-thinking approach to and use of technology in real estate. Late last year, Scott was also appointed to the executive board of the National Association of Realtors. |
