Intuit launches new Master Builder software
to benefit homebuilders
Added features help save time, provide more home builder-specific data
Intuit Inc., which makes the popular QuickBooks small business software, has announced its new Master Builder™ Network Edition release that includes specific enhancements to help home builders better manage their businesses.

The new Intuit release provides increased integration between estimating, project management and purchase orders that will help builders save time and ultimately help lower operating costs. While Intuit Master Builder previously has included functionality for other construction industry niches, such as plumbing and electrical, the new release is the first with enhancements for homebuilders.

Home builder-specific data or elements now part of Intuit Master Builder Network Edition include:

• A Chart of Accounts based on data provided by the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB)
• An extensive list of Cost Codes based on data provided by NAHB
• A listing of 8,000 parts most commonly used by homebuilders
• Material and labor items for work most commonly performed by home builders (carpentry, concrete and trim)
• Several grids (portions of an estimate, such as for roofs)
• More than 800 assemblies (comprised of the pre-determined parts and their quantities needed to build a particular element, such as a wall in a room of a house)
• New home builder-specific reports for greater business and job profit analysis

Additional enhancements include greater integration between Master Builder’s Estimating and Scheduling components, saving users time and reducing data management costs, and increased compatibility between Master Builder’s Scheduling and Purchase Order components, allowing users to streamline materials purchasing and identify resource conflicts earlier in the production process.
