Local doc carrying Olympic Torch
Dr. David Silk isn’t just a star in the ER at Harrison Hospital. The local physician is also highly skilled in another arena: the ice rink. An Olympian speed skater and member of the US World Team for seven years, Dr. Silk competed in the 1984 and 1988 Olympics and also coached the junior national team.

This month, he’s representing Bremerton in the Winter Olympics Torch Relay. Beginning in Atlanta, the torch will travel 65 days through 125 major cities and hundreds of small towns before reaching Salt Lake City for the opening ceremony.

Dr. Silk is one of 11,500 participants to carry the torch for two-tenths of a mile. His terrain will be Everett.

Dr. Silk joined Harrison’s Emergency Department in 1999 after completing a residency in emergency medicine at Michigan State University. He is a 1996 graduate of the University of Washington Medical School.
