KCFCU honored nationally by CUNA
The Credit Union National Association (CUNA) recently recognized Kitsap Community Federal Credit Union (KCFCU) with second place in the prestigious Louise Herring award for Philosophy in Action competition for the year 2000.

The award is in recognition of the commitment to the credit union philosophy of “People Helping People.” CUNA honored KCFCU for its dedication to Education as one of its core values.

KCFCU’s major effort was the awarding of the first five KCFCU Educational Grants Foundation tuition grants to Greater Kitsap Peninsula students. Eighty-eight students applied for the $2,000 grants to continue their post- secondary education.

KCFCU employees also facilitated a mock Credit Union at South Kitsap’s Hidden Creek Elementary School, conducted numerous financial management classes at local military bases, hosted a variety of educational workshops for seniors, participated in the Junior Achievement program, co-sponsored the Kitsap Literacy Council’s Corporate Spelling Bee and conducted a series of checking classes for its Varsity Club members.
