New executive director named at Martha & Mary
   Lutheran Services, the parent company for Martha & Mary Health Services, recently named Denney Austin as Executive Director of Martha & Mary Lutheran Services, Martha & Mary Children’s Services, and Ebenezer Services. He has served as interim administrator for Health Services for the past two years.

Denney, a Spokane native and University of Washington graduate, began his career in long-term care as a nursing assistant in 1965. He worked for the Washington State Department of Social and Health Services in a number of positions including social worker, regional financial trainer and as a fraud investigator. In 1984 Denney obtained his Nursing Home Administrator’s license and began his career as an administrator.

In 1988, Governor Booth Gardner appointed Denney to the Nursing Home licensure board, and in 2000, he was elected as Vice President of the National Association of Boards of Long Term Care Administrators.

He is an active member of Washington Association of Housing and Services for the Aging and recently served on the image task force for not for-profit long-term care facilities. Additionally, he has written several articles on long-term care that have been published both nationally and internationally.
