| Buildings have a tremendous impact on the environment—both during construction and through their operation. “Green building” is a loosely defined collection of land-use, building design, and construction strategies that reduces these environmental impacts. Benefits of building green include reduced energy consumption, protection of ecosystems, and occupant health.
Green Buildings News (GBN) located at www.buildinggreen.com, contains articles from past issues of Environmental Building News (EBN) that provide an overview of green building and an introduction to this kind of information.
EBN also contains articles about such subjects as green building priorities, a green building checklist, building materials and what makes a product green, and how to build green on a budget. One recent issue featured an article entitled, “Greening Your Business.”
There is also an e-mail list for discussion of green building issues, ideas, and solutions.
EBN co-sponsors two lists, one for issues that arise in building single-family dwellings, and another for larger buildings.
