Comstock, a WWII U.S. Amry veteran, was born in Oak Harbor. He was well known in South Kitsap where he served as editor and publisher of the Port Orchard Independent for a number of years. He later joined the staff of Park Shore Real Estate and served there until his retirement and move to Arizona.

He is survived by his wife, Bernice; daughter Susan Schefler; sons Allen, Randy and Terry; brothers Verne Sr. and Russell, as well as 13 grandchildren and one great crandchild.
