Festival of Trees set for Thanksgiving weekend
The theme for the 14th annual Festival of Trees, Kitsap County’s community holiday celebration, is “Salute The Season.” The annual event is scheduled for Thanksgiving weekend, Friday through Sunday, at the Kitsap Pavilion. It is coordinated by the Harrison Hospital Foundation to benefit healthcare services at Harrison,

This year’s proceeds will benefit the new Women and Children’s Center at Harrison Silverdale. To date $1,051,958 has been raised from the event.

Decorations to carry out the theme include flags and giant nutcrackers which were constructed by the decorations committee and sponsored by Canterbury Manor.

There will also be a display of 40 beautifully decorated Christmas trees, each with a unique theme and decorations. Many of the trees will have valuable items underneath, including trips to ski resorts, sporting goods, gift certificates or gift baskets, garden tractors and more. The trees are sponsored by area businesses and individuals, and sold at the Gala Tree Party and Auction.

In addition to the large Christmas trees, there will be displays of 40 holiday mini-trees — each with its own theme and unique decorations, handmade holiday decor items, by individuals donating their handiwork, as well as 50 beautiful holiday wreaths — all for sale to the public. There will be a display of collector nutcrackers loaned by Jerry and Jan Erickson, and a train display running through it’s miniature town, set up and monitored by Bremerton Northern Model Railroad Club.

The event includes activities for children as well. The entire mezzanine area will feature an assortment of arts and crafts, cookie decorating, a giant bubble machine, putt putt golf, and even 6” mini-tree decorating. And of course, Santa will be available for children to tell their holiday wishes to and have pictures taken. There are also special ticketed events for children which include the Santa Breakfast on Saturday morning at 8:30 AM for 400 guests.
