| Each year, Plant Engineering, a trade journal, selects 150 finalists from the thousands of entries submitted for its Product of the Year competition. The award is recognized as the premier honor for new products in the plant engineering market.
This year, the DCX Online The Intelligent Condition Monitoring System developed by Bainbridge Islands Predict/DLI, has been chosen as a finalist.
The system can monitor hundreds of machines in a plant, looking for faults with its automated diagnostic system. It identifies problems and makes specific repair recommendations well in advance of machine failures. Key features include an industrial Windows 98/2000 platform that utilizes Microsofts DCOM (Distributed Component Object Model) which allows independent software components of the system to operate across a plants network or even via the Internet.
Highly detailed information displays are updated in near real time at any location on a plants network. The system can instantly warn remote operators of problems with network alerts, detailed email alerts, text messaging and pagers anywhere in the world wireless service is available. The DCX Online even maintains a dynamic website on a network or secure Internet server for easy access of critical machine condition information and communicates directly with plant automation systems and third-party information displays.
Subscribers to Plant Engineering will cast their votes in November. |
