InterWest to become a commercial bank
InterWest Bancorp, Inc., the holding company for InterWest Bank and Pacific Northwest Bank, has announced plans to combine its affiliates into a single commercial bank with the current board of directors continuing in that capacity with the consolidated bank.

It will be wholly owned by Oak Harbor-based InterWest Bancorp, Inc. and will have $2.8 billion in assets and 55 financial centers throughout the state. The consolidation is expected to be completed in Q3 of 2000.

All the branches of the name bank will remain the same, with institutions operating under other banners continuing to do so until a conversion of operating systems is complete.
