| Windermere Foundation director Christine Wood was recently appointed to the steering committee for Washington States Rural Continuum of Care Plan. Administered by the Washington State Department of Community, Trade and Economic Development (CTED), the committee conducts homeless planning for the state. The committee is comprised of directors of government and social service agencies from across the state.
Woods role is to provide the perspective of a grant-making foundation in the planning process as the committee moves forward with developing the grant application process and policies.
As part of this steering committee, I have a chance to represent Windermere in advancing programs across the state that assist those facing a housing crisis or homelessness, said Wood. In addition to administering the Windermere Foundations giving program for homeless and low-income families, being a part of this steering committee gives me another opportunity to be involved in the fight against homelessness.
Wood was named director of the Windermere Foundation last fall, and runs the day-to-day operations of the 11-year-old organization, which raises funds to help fight homelessness in communities throughout the Northwest. Wood helps oversee all Foundation activities for the nearly 200 Windermere offices and manages the relationships with more than 250 Northwest nonprofit organizations that receive funding from the Foundation.
Wood also spearheads an advisory board of Windermere agents, owners and managers who oversee the direction of the Foundation. |
