| The City of Gig Harbor has announced that David Stubchaer will become the new public works director beginning in May. Last fall the City began an extensive search for a public works director following a reorganization of the City’s Community Development Department. The hiring of David Stubchaer, who currently holds a similar position for the City of Santa Barbara, moves the City of Gig Harbor forward with its streamlining efforts for the Public Works Department.
He brings extensive experience to Gig Harbor with 24 years of service to the City and County of Santa Barbara, most recently as the Supervising Civil Engineer. “Santa Barbara is similar to Gig Harbor in some ways” Stubchaer said, “Both have a beautiful waterfront and both have residents that expect and receive a high level of service from their city government.” As Public Works Director, he will seek to maintain a high level of public outreach and involvement and provide a high level of service to the public.
Stubchaer holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in civil engineering from California State University. He is a registered professional civil engineer.
