| In an effort to streamline services and update procedures the City of Gig Harbor is now offering on-line permits for simple mechanical, plumbing and re-roof work through its municipal website, www.cityofgigharbor.net.
The city has been considering internet services, particularly on-line permits and permit status inquiries for some time. However, the expense and security of implementing these services was both a financial and security hurdle for the city. Now, due to the implementation of its in-house permitting system and in unique collaboration with eCityGov Alliance, it has the inherent security necessary to protect its technology infrastructure while providing increased services to citizens. states Kay Truitt, City of Gig Harbor information services manager. The multi-city consortium of services is a huge benefit to the citizens and businesses and provides a very cost effective solution at a mere fraction of the cost.
MyBuildingPermit.com is a building permit service portal provided by the eCityGov Alliance, serving a regional population of nearly 700,000 citizens. Contractors and citizens can use the web portal to obtain simple permits from member jurisdictions with a single transaction. The site also provides access to a library of construction tip sheets, inspection checklist and on-line permit status as well as history for properties located in member jurisdictions.
