The proposed constitutional amendment, which voters will consider on Nov. 6, will allow school levies to pass with the support of a simple majority of votes cast in an election. Currently, a levy election fails unless it receives 60 percent of the votes cast and draws at least 40 percent of the number of voters who participated in the most recent general election.

EHJR 4204 allows 50 percent of voters in a levy election to authorize excess capital, maintenance and operation, and transportation levies for school districts.
