| The state Public Disclosure Commission (PDC) has exonerated the Building Industry Association of Washington (BIAW) of all alleged violations of campaign finance laws in the 2006 elections. A complaint was filed last September by trial attorney Kyle Olive, whose law firm, Fury Bailey, has represented Democratic interests in previous matters as well as supported Gov. Christine Gregoire.
The complaint contended BIAW violated three components of campaign finance laws during the course of supporting the candidacy of John Groen for Washington Supreme Court. The PDC dismissed all allegations, concluding BIAW followed the letter of the law in abiding by campaign finance laws and properly reporting all campaign activity to the PDC.
I expect the newspapers that ran the story of Olives bogus allegations at the top of the front page will devote the same space to the story of the PDCs dismissal of these bogus allegations, said BIAW Executive Vice President Tom McCabe. It is only fair that the newspapers that ran the story smearing BIAW with these ticky tack allegations will now run a story concluding the allegations had no legs, just as BIAW predicted.. |
