McCormick Woods community
welcomes new builders and neighborhoods
McCormick Land Company announced the launch of new neighborhoods created by builders who see a growing housing market in Kitsap County.

“Chaffey Homes has been building in Kitsap County for more than 40 years, so we have a strong commitment to the area, and we’re looking forward to launching a new neighborhood at McCormick Woods,” said Rick LaBow of Chaffey Homes.  Beginning in early 2007, Hawkstone will be Chaffey’s new golf course neighborhood at McCormick Woods.

“McCormick Woods has a wonderful rural, woodland feel to it, yet it has convenient access to services and employment,” said Matt Ferris, president of D.R. Horton’s Seattle division, the national homebuilding company traded on the NYSE that is creating the new Rutherford neighborhood at McCormick Woods.

“With transportation improvements and new shopping and services nearby, Kitsap County is becoming a logical alternative to Seattle and Bellevue suburban neighborhoods,” said Peter Orser, president of Bellevue-based Quadrant Homes, the homebuilding company that is creating The Ridge at McCormick Woods.

“At McCormick Woods, we’ve been fortunate to partner with some of the Northwest’s highest quality homebuilders,” said Doug Skrobut, president of McCormick Land Company, developer of McCormick Woods. “McCormick Woods is an established community and people love living here because of the careful planning, natural beauty, and access to recreation and high quality homes.  These new home neighborhoods and communities will continue with this tradition.”

The McCormick Woods master planned area near Port Orchard encompasses 2,400 acres including a highly rated golf course with about 40 percent of the land protected as open space. The development was launched in 1987 and today has about 700 homes.
