The long-delayed Oxford Suites Hotel project in Silverdale appears to be back in the swing of things, after sitting dormant for months. A Commercial Hotel/Motel permit was issued by the county to Oxford Suites’ corporate parent, Bend, Oregon-based Baney Corporation on June 21 and construction began again on the site in July.
Reasons for the construction delay could not be confirmed. Reports that engineering issues arose when work began with the sewer and water systems on the property were disputed by Randy Mitchell, the project manager for the hotel development, who maintained that design changes for the building were behind the construction hold up.
If current construction work remains on schedule, the new hotel should be open for business summer 2007. |
