In just four short weeks the popular Puerto Vallarta Restaurant in Port Orchard received an “Extreme Makeover,” in that it underwent a complete interior renovation. The general contractor for the project was the BJC Group of Port Orchard, the same firm that built the new Cosmo’s Restaurant, which is within sight of Puerto Vallarta.

The eatery was closed during the renovation. Crews worked nights and weekends to meet the aggressive project deadlines, and by a combination of careful planning and detailed scheduling, coupled with working closely with the owner’s crew, the project was completed on time and under budget.

The scope of work included complete removal of all kitchen equipment and demolition of the concrete slab in the kitchen. There were 11 floor sinks installed, and then a complete pour back of the concrete slab in the kitchen. The work also entailed removal and replacement of water damaged components in the kitchen and a redesign of the waterproofing techniques used to address a chronic water intrusion problem.

The bar area also underwent a complete removal and reconstruction process that included adding a stained concrete counter top, new heating system and new lighting.

The bathrooms were also renovated and included new wall tile, bath partitions, and the installation of new automatic sensor toilet fixtures.

In the main restaurant area, all of the booths, chairs and tables were reupholstered and refinished, the entire seating area was also repainted, with the restaurant’s signature wall murals also being changed, The installation of new carpet throughout was the finishing touch on the project.

BJC Group president Robert Baglio commented, “Everyone associated with this project worked with dedication and determination to make sure the project was a success and was completed within the required timeframe.” He also added a special “thank you” to the following organizations: that participated in the project: Bird Electric, Evergreen Lumber, Silverdale Plumbing, Ecklund Drywall, All Trades Mechanical, RW Drywall, Tri Tec Systems, Corporate Casework, Valley Floors, Benson Hardware, Architectural Acoustics, Bargreen-Ellingsen, Hanley Roofing, Bills Fire Extinguisher, Lee Fabricators and DL Henricksen.

Baglio also praised owner Sergio Andrade and the staff at Puerto Vallarta, adding that the project could not have been successful without their hard work and cooperation.
