U.S. Rep. Jay Inslee announced during a meeting of Kingston community leaders that Kitsap County will receive $150,000 in federal funds for the purchase of land that will be developed into a community center and park complex.
Kitsap County Commissioner Chris Endresen led local efforts to acquire the 3.6 acres of land, no longer needed by the Navy, which is adjacent to 13 acres already owned by the county. Federal funding will come from the Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Economic Development Initiative. |
