Port of Bremerton executes agreement
with Kitsap SEED

Taking another step toward the development of a major job and business center for Kitsap County, the Port of Bremerton executed the agreement that designates a 40 to 60 acre piece of its Olympic View Industrial Park for this purpose. Following its earlier contract with Sustainable Synergy, a local business and development consulting group, the Port designated a site that includes a portion of the former Norseland mobile home park, which was found to be contaminated, and has since been rehabilitated with few restrictions.

The proposed advanced business park is known as the Kitsap SEED Project, and is focused on building a cutting edge facility that will attract businesses working in the alternative energy and sustainable construction industries. Sustainable Synergy is tasked with concept design, business recruitment, development of industry resource tools, and finding funding for the campus.

The contract calls for next steps to include a draft concept site plan, expected to be ready for Port review by late November.

Along the way, prospective tenants will be surveyed on their business requirements, with hopes of creating a design that will best appeal to their needs. Kitsap SEED intends to exceed the LEED platinum standard for sustainable development.
