The transformation of Alderbrook Inn on Hood Canal to a true destination resort is well underway.
The old Inn has been almost totally demolished and the new structures are under construction. The resort intends to be open again by Memorial Day 2004. The trickiest part of the project the relocation of one-half a mile of State Highway 106, a major component in the renovation project of the Hood Canal landmark is almost complete.
It is being done by private contractors paid by the resort, and will be gift deeded to the State when it is finished.
Over 190,000 yards of earth have been removed and the relocated highway bed is nearly ready for asphalt. Dalby Creek will also be enhanced for greater salmon production.
The $2.2 million project will boast a total construction time of a mere five months. |
