The Kitsap County Board of Commissioners is accepting applications from Commissioner District 3 (Commissioner Patty Lent’s district) citizens interested in serving on the Kitsap County Planning Commission.

The Planning Commission assists the Department of Community Development (DCD) in carrying out its responsibilities. This includes assistance in the preparation and implementation of the county’s Comprehensive Land Use Plan as mandated by the state’s Growth Management Act.

The nine citizens who make up the commission, conduct public hearings and make recommendations to the commissioners on the comp plan updates, as well as making recommendations on zoning changes, open space applications and most other land use issues. Three members from each Commissioner district are appointed to serve four-year terms. Members may choose to receive a $50 reimbursement as compensation for each meeting attended.
