Church construction now complete

Construction of the new Olympic Evangelical Free Church is now complete with services and programs being held regularly.

The building, which features a high vaulted ceiling sanctuary with seating for 250 and overflow capacity for another 100, was designed by Miles Yanick & Company of Bainbridge Island.

The main focus of the sanctuary is a natural, back lit cross. The North wall frames twenty-seven windows, highlighting the books of the New Testament and the repetitive structural members running the length of the highest ceiling area suggest the ribs of the whale.

A fellowship hall adjoins the sanctuary and is flanked by a nursery, toddler rooms and a large kitchen. On the second floor above the fellowship hall are Pastor Jim Keating’s office, the church business office, Sunday School rooms, the “Cry” room, a general meeting room and the media booth.

Drury Construction Company and Swanberg Construction shared General Contractor duties with the Heuss Company being responsible for the site work. A major portion of the project was accomplished through the congregation’s own efforts.
