County effectiveness rating boosted a notch

A five-year state review of the Kitsap County Building Division for Insurance Standards Organization proved positive.

The Washington Surveying & Rating Bureau increased its Building Code Effectiveness Grading Schedule rating from a four to a three.

Kitsap County residential and commercial property owners and businesses will likely experience lower insurance premiums for structures built after January 2003 than those in other, lower rated counties, said Mark Grimm, a Kitsap County building official.

“This audit put us in the top 12 percent of all building departments in the country,” Grimm said.
