The Kitsap County Association of Realtors® (KCAR) held its annual Installation and Awards Banquet at the Howard Johnson Plaza on Jan. 24.

But in spite of the awards and installation, the evening belonged to incoming president David Jones, as he was honored several different times.

Installed as officers for 2003 were: President: David Jones, Windermere, Silverdale; President-Elect: Frank Mahaffay, Windermere, Silverdale; Treasurer: Trenna Otis, Windermere, Bremerton; and Secretary: Kathleen Sutton, John L. Scott, Kingston.

The new Board of Director Members are; Mark Warns, Windermere, Poulsbo; Ramon Selby, Prudential NW, Belfair; Scott Krause, Land Title Co., Silverdale; and Annette Terrill-Nitz, John L. Scott, Silverdale.

The awards presentations were handled by past president Frank Wilson with the help of immediate past president Lee Avery. The following awards were presented: Affiliate Of The Year, Ryan Christian, of Eagle Home Mortgage, Silverdale; Citizen Of The Year, Commissioner, Jan Angel; Realtor Special Achievement, Wayne Ellis, Reid Real Estate – Commercial Div., Silverdale; Jenks Beard Community Service, Ron Ross, Silverdale Realty, Silverdale; Floyd Luckerath Realtor Spirit, Trenna Otis, Windermere, Bremerton, and Realtor Of The Year, David Jones, Windermere, Silverdale.

In addition to being installed as president and named Realtor of the Year, incoming president David Jones was also honored with a special President’s Award by Avery for what she termed his, “…dedication to the association, and immense help to me during my terms as president.”

Commissioner Jan Angel was also singled out as the group’s Citizen of the Year. The award is bestowed upon an individual who has contributed to the community in an unusual number of ways. Last year’s recipient was Sheriff Steve Boyer. Longtime member Ron Ross also was honored with the Jenks Beard Community Service Award for his donation of two ball fields in Central Kitsap as well as his other numerous and long time community contributions.

The Installing Officer was Jim Harris, of Windermere, Poulsbo, and a National Association of Realtors® board of directors member. The Master of Ceremonies was Lary Coppola, publisher of the Kitsap Peninsula Business Journal.
