The Board of Kitsap County Commissioners recently appointed Darryl Piercy, currently the Assistant Director of Planning and head of the long range planning department, as interim director of Community Development. He will oversee the departments operation until a permanent director is selected.
Piercy has worked for the county for 13 years. Prior to coming to Kitsap County, he served for 14 years at the Port of Bremerton in a variety of areas, notably as harbormaster at the Port Orchard Marina and as operations officer.
He is past president of the Port Orchard Chamber of Commerce and a former Port of Brownsville Commissioner.
The Board of Commissioners has narrowed the field of possible replacements for recently retired DCD director Bruce Freeland to two candidates from the original 19 that applied for the position. A decision on a permanent replacement for Freeland is expected shortly. |
