Well known Bainbridge Island real estate broker Marie Gallagher has sold her Coldwell Banker office. The new owners are Rod and Barbara McKenzie, who had worked in the office as agents. They have changed the name of the firm to Coldwell Banker McKenzie and Associates. Barbara McKenzie will become the designated broker for the office later this month.
Rod McKenzie has been a developer on the island for the past 30 years. His projects include the Courtyard on Madison and Winslow Mews among others.
The pair said they are happy to report that all of the agents are staying, and that they will soon remodel the office so it can accommodate a total of 21 agents.
Gallagher and daughter, Erin Gallagher-Whitson, who worked in management along side her mother, will both stay with the office as sales associates.
When asked if she regretted selling the office, Gallagher, exclaimed Oh God, no! Im jumping up and down for joy. This is really a win-win situation for everyone.
The longtime broker said the sale was more of a personal and lifestyle decision for her than a business one, reporting the office has posted some of its best results in recent years. We have been in the top five percent of Coldwell Banker offices of our size in the nation for the past five months running, she said proudly.
Gallagher started the office as an ERA franchise with one desk and chair and built it to 18 agents. She later switched to the more upscale Coldwell Banker franchise. Before opening her office, Gallagher had previously served as manager of the Poulsbo office of John L. Scott in the mid-1980s.
