NAHB to aid attack victims
Kitsap HBA kicks in 25 percent of auction proceeds
Saying, “The nation’s home builders are profoundly saddened by the terrible events of Sept. 11, and we are determined to do whatever we can to help alleviate the suffering and difficulties experienced by victims and their families,” Bruce Smith, president of the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB), announced the group has established the Home Builders Care Victims’ Relief Fund. The fund is in conjunction with its philanthropic arm, the National Housing Endowment, to help the victims of recent terrorist attacks in New York City, Washington, D.C., and rural Pennsylvania.

NAHB started the fund with an opening contribution of $250,000, and the National Housing Endowment contributed an additional $125,000. NAHB’s 205,000 members are encouraged to contribute as well by writing checks to the Home Builders Care Victims’ Relief Fund and making donations though the local home builders’ association.

To that end, the Homebuilders Association of Kitsap County donated 25 percent of the proceeds of its annual auction which was held on Sept. 21, to the fund. Auction proceeds were to benefit the Affordable Housing Council.

Donations may be sent to The National Housing Endowment, 1201 15th St., NW, Washington, D.C., 20005.
