| Bainbridge Island bamboo floor and panel manufacturer, TimberGrass LLC, is a featured Eco-Friendly Product at the Sunset Magazines Idea House, in Redmond. The home opened to the public on Sept. 8 and is open to the public Wednesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. until November 18. A portion of the $6 admission will go to Habitat for Humanity of East King County.
TimberGrass bamboo floors are a sustainable, highly durable and alternative to traditional wood flooring. Unlike hardwood trees requiring more than 120 years to mature, bamboo is a grass that grows to maturity in less than six years and is renewably harvested from the same plants.
Designed as a Tudor Revival with a Twist, the outside of the home is reminiscent of the arts and crafts-influenced architecture of Seattle neighborhoods in the early 1900s.
Inside, in the family room, the floor is TimberGrass prefinished flat grain caramelized bamboo, an amber colored tongue and groove flooring which features the distinctive bamboo pattern.
The bamboo, Phyllostachus Pubescens (common name: Moso), is grown by independent farmers and then milled in a private factory in China.
We are proud to be working with emerging entrepreneurs in China to provide an environmentally sound product for North America, says TimberGrass President and COO David Knight. TimberGrass strives to be environmentally, socially and economically responsible in all facets of business.
