Bremerton planner gains national certification
Bremerton resident Linda E. Streissguth, who works for Puget Sound Energy, was recently certified as a member of the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP).

Certification requires specific education and experience plus passing a rigid exam. Only 14,000 planners hold AICP certification nationwide. Streissguth was one of 37 people in the Washington State Chapter certified out of 43 exam registrants.

Planners work with communities to help them identify and solve land-use, economic and social problems, often working with local governments as advisors to elected officials and citizens who serve on zoning boards and commissions. AICP certification ensures that a planner meets the highest standards in the planning profession.
