| The Kitsap Citizens for Rural Preservation and The Suquamish Tribe have both dropped their complaints against the annexation of 440 acres of land near Kitsap Lake into the City of Bremerton when it became clear their challenge with not be upheld. The land is owned by Port Blakely Communities and is earmarked as a mixed use development that would include homes, and as much as 2.2 million square feet of commercial and industrial development phased in over a period of years.
A previous challenge based on guidelines set forth in the Growth Management Act was dismissed earlier this year as well. Officials from Port Blakely said they will address the concerns of the two groups. Port Blakely also conceded that the original time table for the project is likely to be delayed due to the fact the market for large scale commercial projects has slowed because of the cooling economy. |
