Recognizing minority home
ownership contributions
A partnership of six real estate associations have banded together to present a new national awards program called HOPE, which stands for Home Ownership Participation for Everyone. The HOPE Awards will recognize outstanding contributions by individuals and organizations in promoting home ownership by minorities.

The associations sponsoring the awards are the Chinese American Real Estate Professionals Association of Southern California, the Chinese Real Estate Association of America, the Korean Real Estate Brokers of Southern California, the National Association of Hispanic Real Estate Professionals, the National Association of Real Estate Brokers and the National Association of Realtors.

The awards will be co-sponsored by Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac and the National Association of Home Builders. Winners of the HOPE Awards will receive $10,000 at an October 10 event to be held at the National Building Museum in Washington, D.C. Winners also will discuss their work and share their experiences with housing policy makers at a symposium at the National Press Club.

Winners will be selected by a panel of judges, based on the impact of the nominee’s work in promoting minority home ownership, the use of innovative ideas, acceptance by the minority community, focus on minority home ownership and focus on affordability.

Categories for the awards include home ownership education, finance, project of the year, real estate brokerage, public policy, media coverage and leadership.

Nominations are due by July 2.
