Homes selected for 2001 Bainbridge tour
Bainbridge Performing Arts (BPA) recently announced the selection of the homes it will showcase in this year’s 2001 Home Tour. Sponsored by Washington Mutual, the tour provides an opportunity to visit homes with distinctive architecture, creative décor, spectacular views and extraordinary art collections that reflect the varied lifestyles on Bainbridge Island.

“We are truly excited about this year’s selection of homes,” said Tour Coordinator Kim Atkins. “Each home offers something interesting, artistic and unique, and demonstrates the diversity of island living.”

Highlights of this year’s homes include the following:
• A shingle-style home with classic features and a kid-friendly floor plan including French doors that open onto a wrap around porch overlooking Eagle Harbor.
• A farm house in a forested setting with a blended décor of Asian furniture and antiquities, some as old as 3000 years, mixed with 20th century contemporary furniture and art collection.
• A condominium with a view of Eagle Harbor that has an eclectic collection of art and a tasteful layout.
• A South Beach home designed in the tradition of the Coast Guard stations of the eastern seaboard that won Seattle Homes and Lifestyles Home of the Year Award for 2000.
• An ultimate recreation home with 2000 square feet of decks, beach volleyball & basketball courts, a dock and a 360-degree view of the water and mountains from every room.

The 12th Annual Home Tour will take place between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. on May 12. Starting April 15, advance tickets may be purchased for $20 per person at BPA and various local businesses. On the day of the tour, tickets will cost $25 and may be purchased at BPA, where the tour begins. Discount coupons will be available at regional branches of Washington Mutual.
