| The National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) will hold its 2001 National Green Building Conference in Seattle, March 18-20, at the Westin Hotel. Among other featured events, will be a Smart Growth debate between NAHB Senior Officer Gary Garczynski and Carl Pope of the Sierra Club. It will happen on Monday, March 19, from 11 a.m. to noon.
The conference is aimed at builders, developers, architects, engineers, manufacturers, trade contractors and government officials who seek to be on the cutting edge of innovative building technologies. The event is the only national conference to focus on residential design, development, marketing, building, and financing of homes that are environmentally-sensible.
Sessions at the conference will provide builders, developers, planning agencies and local government officials with information on Smart Growth; salmon protection measures, TMDLs and water quality; Indoor Air Quality; cost-effective site design and green development practices; green remodeling; green materials and products; sustainable wood certification programs and engineered wood products; financing green homes; energy efficiency; waste management; how to build homes that are green and affordable; advances in energy efficient home appliances and lighting; and new ICC Codes including the performance building code and the IRC Energy section.
