Realtors install 2001 officers
   The Kitsap County Association of Realtors (KCAR) held its Installation and Awards Banquet on Jan. 12 at the Howard Johnson Plaza.

The following officers were installed for 2001: President, Frank Wilson, of Windermere Real Estate in Silverdale; President-Elect, Lee Avery, of John L. Scott in Port Orchard; Treasurer, Dave Jones of Windermere Real Estate in Silverdale; and Secretary, Shawna Newman of the Silverdale office of Reid Real Estate.

Steve Franks, executive officer of the Washington Association of Realtors was a n honored guest, and presented KCAR with a certificate of appreciation and a gift for allowing its Government Affairs Coordinator, Barbara Kitchens, to come to Olympia and assist the state association with its work.

The new Board of Director Members are; Beth Allen of Prudential Northwest Real Estate in Silverdale; Frank Mahaffay of Windermere Real Estate in Silverdale; Katherine Scrivner of Transnation Title in Silverdale; Barbara Crabtree, manager of the John L. Scott office on Bainbridge Island; and Vern Young of All Points Properties, Inc. in Bremerton.

Coordinator, was awarded the Floyd Luckerath Realto Spirit Award

There were a number of awards presented as well. Affiliate of the Year was presented to Anne and Chuck Fair, of Fair Home Inspections; Citizen Of The Year, an award given to a non-Realtor for community activities was presented to Jim Martin, who spearheaded the Home Rule movement; the Realtor Special Achievement Award went to co-winners Irene Garcia of Prudential Northwest Real Estate in Poulsbo for her work in heading up the group’s Designated Office Communicator (DOC) Program, and Phil Broms of RE/Max Unlimited North in Poulsbo for his work as RPAC Chair; the Jenks Beard Community Service Award also had co-winners — Tommy Jones of John L. Scott in Silverdale and Shawna Newman of Reid Real Estate in Silverdale; the Floyd Luckerath Realtor Spirit Award was bestowed upon Vivian Henderson who has served as the association’s Government Affairs Coordinator, and recently stepped down to take the position of executive director of the Waterfront and Streamside Owners Association.Henderson is a past president of KCAR and former Realtor of the Year.

The Realtor Of The Year Award was presented to Geri Jordan of Prudential Property Management in Silverdale.

KCAR Executive Director Larry Johnson, who is a past president and past Realtor of the Year, served as Master of Ceremonies, and the Installing Officer was the man known as “The dean of Kitsap Real Estate,” Don Pennington, of Windermere Real Estate in Silverdale. Pennington is a long-time member of the association and a retired Naval Officer.
