| Kitsap County has begun the process to review the impact fees it imposes on builders of new homes. According to sources at the Homebuilders Association of Kitsap County (HBA), it has been led to believe that at least some recommendations will be to raise impact fees up to 300 percent above current levels.
HBA members Mike Brown, David Smith and John Armstrong have been appointed to the review panel, and the HBA will be scrutinizing all the recommendations as well as the supporting data. It also intends to explore alternatives such as payment at closing or occupancy instead of application as methods of helping keep the cost of housing down for future home buyers.
The process is expected to develop a recommendation by the end of the year. Implementation is anticipated in mid-2001. |
