| The Poulsbo City Council has given site approval to a proposed 11,323 sq. ft. office-retail complex to be located at 278 Moe Street. Known as Moe Street Square. The project envisions two, two story office buildings with a connecting courtyard which will house retail shops on the lower level and offices above.
City policy for the downtown area states that no parking is required on site. However developer Mark Julian volunterily provided 20 spaces on site, with four more available on Moe Street.
The project is located at the edge of the downtown core and is designed to fit in with the Scandinavian character of Front Street, with extended sidewalks, pedestrian enhancements and streetscaping.
City Planning Director Glenn Gross complemented Julian in his willingness to work with the City on the project. The applicant was very responsive to City Comprehensive Plan policies regarding this important area of the city when designing the project, Gross commented.
The building design has a distinctive Scandinavian character with upper floors bulit into the steeply pitched, multi-gabled roofs; board and batten siding; roof overhangs and other architectural embellishments. The view presented to the residential neighborhood along Third Street will be residential in character, while on the Moe Street face offers a more urban, commercial presentation.
Construction is expected to begin in the spring. |
